Tweedle

So, who are we?

Dave formerly ran an entertainment blog. Donna formerly ran a gaming blog, until 2010, and then a book blog. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dave is the result of all that hard work – we finally accepted we’re best as a team and merged our respective blogs, ‘The World According to Dave’ and ‘Book Bags and Cat Naps’!

Cross

Hi! I’m Vanessa, an avid reader, daughter, sister and a junior in high school this fall.  I created this blog as a way for me to express my feelings about each book I read.  I love sharing about books so what better way than on a blog!  Reading is my favorite past time and my room is filled with many books.  I LOVE fiction! Especially YA titles.  But I’m open to reading anything that has caught my attention. Romance, Fantasy, Mystery, Chick Lit, the Classics and much more.I’ll be reviewing books that I have read in the past, so there will be some middle grade books, and books that I plan on reading.  When reviewing books I believe that honesty is the best policy.  I always try to give a book a chance and find something that I liked in it.  But I wont like every book I read and so I’ll be honest and let you know what I didn’t care for.  Of course I encourage you to decide for yourself in the end.

Besides reading, I love listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

Books reviews will be posted at least twice a week or more.  Of course when school starts that will change.

Lovely

Hi, I’m Tabitha, I’m 18 years old, and I’m an aspiring writer. I’ve written numerous stories that I’m way to scared to share with anyone and I started this blog for fun hoping that it will help me over my fear of sharing my writing.

Gina

I’m a 39 yr old mom. I didn’t really like to read until I was on bed rest during my pregnancy. Now I love to read, I always have a book I’m currently reading. I usually have a problem deciding what to read next.

When I’m not reading, I also enjoy scrapbooking and cardmaking.

Please feel free to comment on a book review if you’ve read the book. I would love to hear your thoughts on the book as well.

Cross

Well, almost anything you want to know about me you could probably infer from my blog posts, but here’s the condensed version:  I love to read, write, cross stitch, garden, watch movies (and t.v. shows), make coffee, make tea, bake things that involve generous amounts of chocolate. When I was younger I was obsessed with Laura Croft so I started growing out my hair until I could do the Tomb Raider braid (which I now can although the obsession faded when I realized no amount of hair would allow me to drop out of school and raid tombs for a living).

BookBarn

My name is Danielle and I am a graduate from California State University, Fullerton with a BA in English and Religious Studies. While I didn’t end up in a field that requires the specific use of my degrees, I have always enjoyed reading for fun. I created this blog to catalog my opinion of the books I’m reading and to make new friends who also enjoy reading. I hope that as much as I recommend books to you, you can also recommend books to me!

My favorite books to read have always been fiction because they allow me to escape reality while exercising my imagination. In college I especially loved reading Victorian novels and exploring how they represented the rapid change in religious climate {this subject matter linked my majors beautifully!}. However, I admit that I have since slacked off academically with my choice of reading material; recently I have been reading more contemporary, popular, self-published, “chick lit”, and romance themed novels. I enjoy reading books that are or will be turned into movies and I have been trying to reacquaint myself with old classics, their details I have long forgotten.
My literary pet peeves are clumsy heroines, authors that tell me how I’m supposed to be feeling, watching a movie before reading a book, and vampires in general {this was not intended to be a deliberate slam on Twilight}.
My guilty pleasures when it comes to reading include mentally meticulously casting every book I read {which almost always includes Ian Somerhalder}, reading celebrity memoirs and reading books that make me gush without rolling my eyes {too much – hey, my name was inspired by Danielle Steel after all!}.
What I really want you to know about me and this blog is that no matter how I feel about a book, I still respect and give a lot of credit to every author because it takes a lot of work, creativity and drive to write anything, not to mention publish! These book reviews are just my opinion and my least favorite book just might be the one you end up enjoying the most!

Istyria book blog

Hi and welcome to my blog!

My name is Bieke (Pronounced as such: BIE = like the verb BE, KE = like ‘cup’ without P. Bieke. Got it? :P), I’m 22 years old and I live in a city called Hasselt in Belgium with my boyfriend Alex (and our cats too ofcourse). We’ve been together for 4 years now.
I’ve always loved reading. While other girls and boys at school loved shopping, hanging out, go to clubs/pubs/…, I stayed at home. I could hide away in my room with a book and forget time and everything around me. Sometimes I didn’t even hear my mom calling me. I was in a whole other world. A world were I was happy. Yeah, school sucked for me. I was bullied a lot and I had no friends at all. (Even now I don’t have any friends except the ones on sites like Goodreads. Sad, ain’t it? xD lol.) Books offered me an escape from all that. And the love for books never faded. I read almost everything, but mostly Young Adult fiction, New Adult fiction, Paranormal romance, fantasy, sci fi, detective, psychological thrillers, drama, … As long as the story is good and the book is well written, I’m happy.
Next to reading I also love to write. I started with poems when I was 11 years old and now I’m trying to work on a novel. That’s right, trying. At the moment I have my annual writer’s block that returns each year. It almost always lasts from november/december until march or april. Cold weather isn’t good for my creativity.
Ofcourse I also watch TV. My favorite shows at the moment are Glee, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars,  Legend of Aang and The Simpsons. I’m not going to sum up all my favorite movies, because that would take to much time. xD As with books, I love almost every movie. Drama, Romantic comedy, Sci Fi, Action, Musical, Dance, … I’m easy to please when it comes to movies (and books).
Cooking and webdesign are also things I like to do! I designed the button for my blog, my ‘autograph’ (see beneath this text), my header, my rating system and the background. On my facebook you’ll find a map called ‘Photofiltre Studio X’. Most of my designs are in that map. =) You can find a link to my facebook account on the Contact-page.
If you want to read something I wrote, here are some links to the writings I posted here, but most of my writings (such as the book I’m working on), you’ll find here.

Plot of “The Luck of the Weissensteiners” by Christoph Fischer

In the sleepy town of Bratislava in 1933 a romantic girl falls for a bookseller from Berlin. Greta Weissensteiner, daughter of a Jewish weaver, slowly settles into life with the Winkelmeier clan. The political climate and slow disintegration of the multi-cultural society in Czechoslovakia becomes more complex and affects relations between the couple and their families. The story follows their lot through the war with its torment, destruction and its unpredictability – and the equally hard times after…

BOOK BACK COVER   Book Front Cover

Respected author M.C.V. Egan says about her book “The Bridge of Deaths”:

The Bridge of Deaths is a cross genre novel with a strong factual side. It is about a 1939 plane crash in Denmark in which five men were reported dead. Because the crash took place in between two jurisdictions the investigation involved a power play between the police from Vordingborg and Nykoping. The newly formed Danish Secret Police was also heavily involved and added more confusion…

StreetWraith

Streetwraith.Net is a meeting place of self-published works and readers. They greet each other, talk, and get to know each other a little better.

We explore the literary aspects of self-published works. What does that mean? That means that we get into the work, beneath the story that is being told, to see what the work is about. What was the author thinking? What is the significance of telling the story in these times? What archetypes are being used and what do they mean? How is the tale structured and what would Aristotle say about that?

We’re not very concerned about whether or not we like a story. We may talk about that from time to time, but that isn’t what we’re here for. Like and dislike is an opinion based on an emotional reaction to a story. That reaction is important to the reader, true, but it is a surface reaction. You may hate a story but you cannot deny that there is something significant happening within it. So, we’re not concerned about that emotional reaction. We’re concerned with the cerebral reaction.

Yes. We’re book reviews for nerds.

And that is okay. It is okay because as we fast approach the Singularity, nerds increasingly rule the world. And as we become more integrated with our technology devices, our phones, or e-readers, our computers, we become a little more nerd ourselves. So embrace the nerd in you and read a little deeper into the stories.

Most importantly to us, read deeper into the stories we present here. Read into them and discuss them with us. You can join the conversation on our message boards.

And enjoy.
